When this is being requested, we state, as standard, that we require a bank statement or utility bill dated from within the last 3 months. There are a few further documents that may be acceptable but must still be dated within the same timeframe. E.g. Local authority council tax bill, Solicitors letter confirming recent house purchase or land registry confirmation of address, Council or housing association rent card or tenancy agreement, a few more but refer to team leader for assistance if alternatives are required. To fully validate the document, you must check:
Date of Issue is within 3 months
Name of Addressee is our policyholder
Address matches CDL
If the name or address on the proof of address doesnโt match CDL, or if the date of issue isnโt within the last 3 months, you will need to contact the client to query further. Usually, they will send in another document and occasionally they will request a change of address on the policy, either is fine.
